What I believe is that Google has again updated PR and Backlinks on the 28th of Feb 2008.This update is possibly conducted with a different set of algorithms.If this is official ,then it will be the second update for PR and backlinks for the year,considering it had updated PR and backlinks last January contrary to only 3 updates last year.As for me this time I was Unlucky,not only did I loose my backlinks my PR too decreased.
What makes me confused is the manner in which the updates took place.I have been a firm believer that more backlinks helps you to increase your PR. The last time in January when PR and backlinks were updated I had backlinks of 265 and 170 respectively for a couple of websites that I work upon.Yesterday when Google did the update my backlinks reduced to 121 and 115 respectively.But the funniest aspect is the the PR of both sites are the same.One with a backlink of 265 and a PR of 4 reduced to 124 and 3,where as the one with a backlink of 170 and a PR of 2 has it's back links to 118 but the PR shoots up to 3.How's this possible.It could be that Google has put on a criteria where a certain PR will be meted out for a certain amount of Baclinks ??Confused bout it's high time that all wannabe's SEO analysts re-considers their strategies.
